3rd Grade

Our 3rd Graders have been exploring many new concepts including meter. We have been identify the meter of songs by both sound and sight. We have experienced finding the strong vs. weak beats, and have identified the meter of several songs we know. In addition to meter, we are working on singing 2-part rounds. A round is a song that can be sung in two or more parts with one group of singers starting shortly after the first group. We are gradually building our singing confidence and ability to carry our own part. 

 

3rd Grade is also buzzing with excitement about the arrival of our recorders! We have been practicing our technique and developing good practice habits. When learning a new song, we always practice with CLASS:

• Clap or speak the rhythm

• Look for patterns

• Any awkward spots

• Sing it first

• Start slow
